ASICS v Adidas

Another great shot from www.amateurwrestlingphotos.com. I'm always drawn to wrestling photos that show the wrestling shoes in action, like this one. This could be a kind of battle between ASICS and Adidas, the two leading wrestling shoe makers, for supremacy.

When watching wrestling as a neutral I often root for the wrestler in the best shoes, but it's hard to say who that is in this shot. Traditionally, I'm an adidas guy, but those ASICS Split Second V's really work for me. So, on this occasion, it's "Go ASICS!" (On the whole, I think ASICS are making better shoes than Adidas right now.)

Mystery wrestling shoes

As spotted on the excellent Amateur Wrestling Photo's website, these fascinating ASICS wrestlings shoes. They are clearly part of the "Wrestling '81" series of models but in colours I've never seen anywhere else other than this photo. I want!

Can anyone tell me where you can get these bad boys?

Mono a Mono

Today I'm laced up in these cool monochrome black Chucks hitops. After a couple of years when almost everyone seemed to be lacing in optical white hitops (whatever happened to unbleached whites?!!), I'm predicting that these will be popular here in the UK this summer.

Wrestling action - Adidas Pin

As well as seeing some fine and intense wrestling as the victor wears the other wrestler down until the pin is won, you can also see classic Adidas Pin wrestling shoes in action on the mat, worn by both wrestlers. They don't make 'em like they used to (sigh).

Mystery Tyguns

I thought I knew my adidas boxing boots pretty well, but here's two variations from eBay that I've never seen before:
I'm liking the silver detailing on these (above) which goes well with the white boot.

Red and grey, it appears. Nice!

Chucks that Suck #2

Well for goodness' sake. These monstrous shoes are barely recognizable as Chucks. Someone at Converse needs a kick up the ass...

New Boots on the Block

"69shoes" is a new collector of boxing boots and wrestling shoes is very welcome indeed. His photos of his collection on Flickr and, now, some recent vides on YouTube are really getting my attention. It's rare to see this care and attention to detail and WHAT A COLLECTION! Very similar, in fact, to mine. We might have to lace up and fight over whose collection is best! ;-)
